Today we used the last of the summer reading prizes from the library- the Water Park of America's free ticket. Unfortunately mine was not free as well. It was a cheaper day so we got by with under $50 for the day. Outside food is forbidden and lockers are $6. They hit capacity today according to their sign as we left.
I had never been to the park before. We spent our day in 3 pools - the wave pool, the playground and the basketball pool. Those are our names for them. I have no idea what the official names are. I was pleasantly surprised to find it very warm and the water really warm. Michael did not get cold. The coldest part was eating lunch.
Michael didn't want to go on the enclosed slides in the playground area to begin with. I told him he didn't have to go anywhere he didn't want to. Later on he tried them and loved them. Unfortunately when we went around on the tubes I was trying to rearrange myself and turned over the tube - Michael had been in the front and did not like that at all. He was wearing a life jacket and popped right up, but it made the poor kid leery of the tubes for awhile. We never did go on the bigger slides.
My only complaint besides price (I am a cheapskate and my frugality was screaming on the price) was the fact you are not supposed to wear glasses into the water. I guess they figure you are going to lose them in the pool or something. Michael & I had worn older glasses so it wouldn't matter if they got banged up. Trying to keep track of your kid when you are half blind is not fun, especially when the kid is even blinder than you.Luckily he has a sense of direction better than a homing pigeon and was able to locate me at all times. I kept looking for the blue/brown/black blur with flashes of orange. If I go again, I will dig out a pair of contacts and wear them. I still have my last order of disposables left and wear one every now and then -it tends to be too dry I hate eye drops.
