Well I finally went into the doctor. If it's Michael I get him in, me I figure it will go away and it generally does. I don't have pneumonia, or H1N1 or the plague or the ilk. Most likely culprits are sinus infection- got antibiotics and either a virus inflamming my lungs causing the coughing, bronchitis or light seasonal asthma. I do tend to cough from fall to spring. This last week I've gotten coughing jags that made me think I might end up throwing up. I have a brand new inhaler to try tonight. Wish me luck.
We had fun with leaves & beautiful weather on Saturday. Sunday included church, groceries and trying to update Mom's Xmas list. The program was easy. Printing on the other hand - forget it. So I sent the information to my computer and retyped the list in Word so it can be printed on any computer from now on. I've downloaded it on a memory stick/thumb drive and it's part of mom's Xmas present this year.
Michael was disappointed there was no school this week, due to the holiday. he did love Eddingtons though. He polished off 2 breadsticks and some soup. Tomorrow we head to the folks for roasted chicken. Left-overs will go into soup. Michael prefers soup to cold pasta salads.
Friday we leave for Milaukee. We are going to visit my Aunt & Godmother. She hasn't met Michael. My folks are driving and I'm entertaining him in the car for the 5+ hours. Oh, Joy. We have only been in cars for about 1.5 hours. I wasn't in a hurry to go on long trips after a 12 flight with a 2 year old. We'll be driving back on Sunday, since it's back to work on Monday.
Happy Thanksgiving !

Busy weekend
We had another 3 day weekend. Yippee! On Friday, we did the Adoption Study at the U. It's on attachment. Michael liked playing with the toys and had a good time. He also got new tennis shoes. His feet are growing again. He spent a hour or two playing at Eagle's Nest in the afternoon after his nap.
Saturday, was party day. We went to a School Craft party. Michael was ok, but thought we should have gone to play in his classroom instead. After the New Brighton Community Center was holding their anniversery party. There were inflatables and cake and ice cream involved so Michael was thrilled. While he napped, I backed up my computer files. I was totally paranoid going into upgrading Windows. I had Vista. We had a mutual hate thing going on involving crashes, freezes etc. I started the upgrade and Michael got up from his nap. We ran outside to rake some leaves. After I checked on the computer, it was looping. Not good. Well supper needed to be made, etc. So I left hte thing looping. After Michael went to bed, I tried the tech support #, they were closed. Sigh.
Sunday -we skipped church to go grocery shopping. After we worked on more raking. I haven't had this many leaves come down at once in a long time. My front tree which usually keeps lots until spring has been shedding more than usual. My mom came over and helped with leaves. After a pizza lunch, Michael went down for his nap. I tried Windows Tech Support # again. I spent over an hour and half on the phone with Raj in India. He was very helpful. Paranoia paid off. I ended up with a custom install that wiped over all my old files. Oh joy. I just finfished the call as Michael woke up. We went with Grandma to Sears which was having an unreal sale. My mom wanted to give me shorts for Xmas, but she got them too large (yeah to weight loss) so we returned them and found other pants to turn into capris or shorts for under $5.00 for 2 pair. I found Michael 3 pairs of pants, a shirt and a jacket for under $26.00.
After I got Michael in bed, I started tackling my computer again. I went for easy first- my printer installed in under 5 minutes, Quicken with data restored under 5 minutes, then the dreaded Qwest modem which I knew wasn't working. With Vista it took 2 discs, 3 tech support networks and hours on the phone to get it working. After discussing it with Maria, we came to the conclusion my modem was too old. I either needed an ethernet installed to used the old modem (age forgotten) or a newer modem that would work with USB since I have no ethernet. After getting model numbers, I signed off with Qwest and went back to installing software.
Monday at lunch I made a trip to Best Buy. It seems everyone there has this one model of modem - 1 of the 2 the qwest technician told me would work. So I bought it. It took another call to tech support at qwest tonight, but I am finally connected again on the net. I also now have full speed. It seems some filter Qwest told me to put on years ago is no longer necessary. Tonight I've had the joy of downloading all my antivirus, antispyware, anti-adware, aol., etc software onto my system.
I still need to load my personal files, but tomorrow is after all another day.

Tired of colds
I really wish someone would come up with a cure or vaccine for the common cold. It's really overdue. Michael's cold is on the wane. Mine is set in. I'm beginning to think I'm a mucus factory.
I managed to book 1 last eye doctor visit in at the end of Nov for Michael. His doctor is moving to TN. There are no other Children's Eye Doctors in the network. We'll have to go outside Tier one to find someone who is a Kid's Eye Doctor, unless HP replaces her. She worked 4 days at 4 different clinics. Good luck on selling that to a replacement doctor. There are 2 doctors in a neighboring suburb who are Tier 2 Children's Eye Doctors. We'll consider that next year.
Michael should be waking up from his nap soon. Since the weather is better than expected, we'll probably hit the park with lots of kleenex for me. I postponed getting together today with a friend. We're going to try Wednesday due to the holiday. The first postponement was due to her daughter having flu.
No flu so far here. Michael actually ended up getting his H1N1 shot when we went into the doctor earlier this week. They had 80 doses for kids between 2-4 and pregnant women. We're supposed to try back in 30 days for his 2nd shot if they have any.
I may go tak a nap until Michael wakes up, it sounds lovely.

It's almost Halloween
We had class tonight. Michael got to pound golf tees into a pumpkin. He also thought that putting the pices inside the potato was more fun than decorating Mr. Potato Head. I put one together upside down and didn't realize it until I tried to put on the glasses and they didn't fit. Last night was the library so he was in a better mood.
Last week was interesting. Michael's primary daycare provider came down with H1N1. He also had a really bad cold. He missed school and going to the library. He spent most of the week at Grandma & Grandpa's. Grandpa spent the early part of the week hunting in the Dakotas for pheasants so Grandma got the brunt of it. Thanks!!!
The weather forecast for Saturday is not real promising. I'm hoping it will improve. I heard the local shopping center has trick or treating in the mall from 2-4. I'm leaning towards going so Michael can get some indoor trick or treating in. Our neighborhood isn't real big on it. I can think of 3 houses maybe besides our's that has lights on. Michael wants to be a fireman. He has boots, raincoat, a hat from the firefighter's and hose, so he's set. A friend gave us a Winnie the Pooh costume that I tried to talk him into, no dice so far.

Oct flying by
Wow, we're halfway through the month. This is our busy weekend. I ended up taking off Thursday due to MEA. So yesterday, Michael & I got to notarize our bi-annual reports and then make sure we had enough postage on reports to get to Viet Nam. I need to copy the report onto a jump drive in order to send it from a more stable computer. Note to self ,Windows 7 comes out later this month- BUY IT!
The trouble is the photos. I use 3 to 4 whatever photos - they blow up lovely to large photos but stink if you try and send them via email. We also visited the library since Michael didn't get his fix on Monday. He thinks he should get to go to the library every day since Mom does. I try and let him go once a week...
Today, I broke down and bought Michael a year's membership to Eagle's Nest. I live blocks from the place and with the crappy weather lately think I'll get my money's worth fast.
Tomorrow is the Apple Orchard - hay ride, etc. and another party - ok, potluck in the early evening. Sunday is likely Boo Zoo. Right now is nap time. I think I may try and squeeze one in myself

Busy, busy, busy
Some weeks it seems so busy there isn't time to breathe. I just got done with my 6 day week. I managed to do the wash last night, so we could ge tto the grocery store this morning. This afternoon is the Mid-Autum Festival in St Paul that we plan to go to.
My dad got the new poles up for the clothes line. The cement needs to set for awhile before putting the line up so the poles don't twist. They look lovely. I was curious and went on the net to see if you could buy them ready made any more and found some, but boy were they expensive.
On Wednesday, I get my first and hopefully last crown. It's the first appointment. I get to go back in 2 weeks for the real crown. Oh joy. On Friday, I have an appointment to get Michael's picture taken. He managed to do a real number on his glasses again and ended up with some cuts on his face. Hopefully it will be healed by then. I can't believe how mangaled those poor frames get. We haven't had to replace them yet - they keep bending them back into shape. He wore his second pair on Saturday until we could get them fixed.
September has flown by. I have a feeling Oct may go fast also.

Timber
Well, I thought it was nice and warm so I hung my wash on the clothes line. Dad had helped me rdo the line since it had gotten stretched out with the camping stuff. I couldn't figure out why the line was dragging so I pulled on it to tighen it up and one of the poles went down. It had rusted/rotted through. All my clothes were on the ground. Luckily I had not mowed recently so i was able to throw the stuff in the dryer.
After Michael finishes his nap we are off in Grandpa's truck to Fleet Farm. I hear they have clothes line poles or stuff to make them. I really like my clothes line!
