"Little Brothers"

I wonder if I have Natalie or Lucy to thank for "little brothers"? When Michael is being told no or scolded for something, he says in a exasperated voice "little brothers". It startled me the first time and I have to admit I laughed. Now he says it at least once or twice a day. Natalie and Lucy are 3 year olds at Michael's daycare who have 1 year old brothers.... He is starting to repeat more what he hears so I need to be careful what I say or my little parrot might recite it back.

We had fun last night at Janet F's suprise party (Michael's primary daycare). Janet was very suprised. Her parents from Mississippi came up. Michael tore are the room with Nate a pre-teen, another toddler about his size and Gabe, Natalie's little brother. He had a blast. I could not believe after eating 6 pieces of catfish, some salad and 2 or 3 helpings of mac & cheese for supper, he still polished off 6-8 pieces of fruit, crackers and some bread. Of course the running around may have burned off some calories...

Today we are being lazy, laundry, groceries, maybe a walk to the park later. I see Yo Gabba Gabba in my future...

Glasses fixed

Well it turns out the glasses could be soldered back together at a jeweler. My parents found someone at Rosedale who did it. I'm keeping the eye appointment since it's actually at a decent time for me to get Michael there.

Work has been a little crazy lately. People have been dropping like flies between flu, colds and strep, etc. Today, I got to spend some quality time ordering and weeding. Yahoo.

Well I signed Michael & I up for Mommy & kid swimming this summer. It runs for 8 weeks in June & July in the early evening. We will not have school on Tuesdays after May, so I figured he could do one summer activity. The times were better on the swimming than some of the classes, but not totally ideal. I considered martial arts, soccer, tennis, tumbling or dance (they run around to music really I think). They all were for 4 years old. I think the swimming is the most practical right now. I figure if we keep working with the water, hopefully soon he'll love it. We can always try something else later. Wet heads sound better in summer than winter to me.

Snap & Ka-ching

Snap went Michael's glasses. Luckily after last year's mishap we have a back up pair. The back-ups were the most reasonable priced frames I could find that would fit. He sort of resembles Sarah Palin in them....

He was supposed to have a doctor's appointment in 3 months for his eyes. His doctor moved to TN so I was going to have to switch doctors anyway. Tomorrow I'll start calling. I don't want to replace his glasses only to have to change the prescription in 3 months. So ka-ching goes the register when we order a new pair.

+ for Strep

I love penicillin. Yes, I have strep. Michael does not appear to have it and hopefully will not catch it from me. I should be out of contagious zone by 3:30 today per doctor's instructions.

Michael played with 2 King Charles Cavalier Spaniels today. They both love people. They are the perfect size for him to play with. When they lick him, he doesn't end up being bowled over unlike Lola a black lab he sees at daycare- she is sweet and loving just big. My tax preparer has the dogs. Life got too complicated last year to continue doing my taxes and remain sane. It's worth the fee to have them done within an hour and not having to read each step at least 3 times to make sure I got it right.

Strep?

Today, at 3 I have a dr's appointment to find out if I have strep. By the end of Tuesday night I thought I had razors in my throat. I had the shakes so bad from being cold I could barely hold a glass. Michael had not had an afternoon nap at daycare. We both went to bed at 8:30. Neither of us managed much sleep. He was coughing every 45 minutes to 60 minutes. We slept in on Wednesday. I called in sick. We got up at 9 to have breakfast. We watched a few minutes of PBS and took a morning nap. After that we had lunch and took an afternoon nap. We tried watching a DVD, I sort of snoozed through it.

Both of went to bed early again last night. Michael slept through the night with some minor boughts of coughing. I never realized how much a person swallows. When I got up this morning I called for a dr's appointment. I dropped Michael off at daycare to find out I may have strep. It seems we've been exposed. Michael has not been complaining of a sore throat, so he seemed better so he stayed.

I went to Walgreens to find something for my throat. I ended up getting chilled again. So I talked briefly to Heidi and left. The stuff from Walgreens isn't doing much. I'm going to try laying down or rather being propped up some since I don't seem to swallow as much that way.

Tomorrow is the tax guy so I need to rest up. Hopefully the doctor will find out what's wrong, I hope it's not strep, I don't want to expose my friends, family or coworkers more than need be. I would like to be able to go at least 60 days without illness or any sort, longer would be great!

Wow, March already

Time is flying. Well I broke my healthy I feel good time this week. I had been so happy not to have a cold. I ended up with a minor case of food poisoning on Wednesday. Argh! When you are happy to throw-up, you know you're in trouble. I ended up being out of work on Thursday also. My digestive system is slowly forgiving me.

Michael so far hasn't had a cold in a bit. He sinuses have been playing up a bit again, I hope it's not another cold coming on slowly.

We had a busy day today. I noticed that Target had booster car seats on sale. I have from a friend for when he gets to 40 pounds. That one now will go to his grandparents. I liked the Target one, since he could start it now with the back on and when he reaches 40 inches and over 40 lbs, we can alsways drop the back. His old chair gets so hard to buckle with all his snow winter wear- he's growing out of it.

After Target we went down to Como and walked around the zoo. When we got back I put his new chair together and figured out how it went in the car and how to fasten it all in the correct way. Naptime was short, under an hour. We walked over to my folks to give them the weekly coupons and get some exercise. They had gotten him a blow-up saucer sled thing. He tried it out and loved it.

By the time we got home, we were both a little tired and cold. Supper was uneventful. We watched a little tv and relaxed. Onto March, I'm hoping in comes in like a lamb and decides to stay a lamb all month.

Busy week again

Well we didn't too much on the excitement meter this last weekend, unless you count walking on sidewalks that could double for ice rinks. We went to Eagle's Nest one day and the park another. Church was also having their annual puzzle/book/cd/dvd sale. I picked up something for Dad for his birthday.

We ended up at the "little library" tonight. Michael likes to choose a library. He also picked out what he'll wear tomorrow. He put on today's selections with me only helping with the socks. Yippee! Only a little bribery was involved in getting him to try. He is very fond of the word "can't" without even trying it.

Tomorrow it's school. He now has a love/hate relationship with it. Depending on his mood, he loves it or hates it. He's been doing that with Mcdonalds, Subway, etc. also.
